Tim Murphy
Editor-In-Chief, Herald Titles
Tim Murphy is Editor-In-Chief of Herald Titles, including New Zealand’s largest daily newspaper, The New Zealand Herald, Herald on Sunday, nzherald.co.nz and APNZ News Agency.
Currently chairman of the industry-wide Media Freedom Committee of editors and news directors, he was appointed Editor of the Herald in 2001, and promoted to the Editor-in-Chief role in November 2011. Murphy has worked on the New Zealand Herald as a reporter, at Parliament as a political writer, then Head of News and Deputy Editor, in three separate stints. In the mid 1990s he worked in Singapore and New Zealand for an international public relations company. He is a born and bred Aucklander, married to Rose and proud father of six young children.
